(Register to lead a Growth Group in February by clicking here (You’ll need a City account; if you’re not on the City yet, join here.) December 7 is the deadline to register to lead.)
Leading a Growth Group is more simple than ever before. Having The City (a web based tool designed for you to communicate with groups of people) and Growth Group in a Box (the materials, tools, resources, and information necessary to lead a group) makes leading easy.
What is a growth group?
A growth group is a group of 12-15 people, who meet together for 12 weeks. The purpose of groups is to meet new people and grow in faith through discussions centered around a topic or book of the Bible. Growth groups also engage in an outreach project, celebrate communion, and have a party together during the 12 weeks.
Who can lead a growth group?
You don’t have to be a Bible-scholar to lead a growth group. The best leaders are those who are willing to lead and have a desire to grow spiritually. To be a leader, we require that you have been in a group before and have gone through an Ignition Growth Group (or similar previously offered class like Connexions). If you don’t meet these qualifications and would still like to be considered, contact Pastor Ed at ed@crossroadsgrace.org.
What topic to study?

How do Activity or Theme Groups work?
You might like to lead a group that is based around an activity or theme (for example: cooking, basketball, or dancing). This can attract like-minded people resulting in fun and spiritual growth. How does such a group look in terms of timing? If you meet for 1 hr 30 min:
Ice Breaker—10 min;
Study—35 min;
Activity/Theme—35 min;
Prayer—10 min.
This is a suggestion, however, activity/theme growth group leaders should be careful to reserve enough time to discuss aspects of the groups’ spiritual walk in an effort to encourage spiritual growth.

When and where to meet…
Obviously, your schedule determines this, but keep in mind that evenings are best and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are the most popular nights for sign-ups. If you want to lead, and are unable to host the group in your home consider having friends host the group, host your group at a local coffee shop, or get creative. If you are not sure where to meet, contact us, and we’ll help you out! Groups begin meeting January 30, 2012 for 12 weeks, but the deadline to apply to lead is December 7.
We Train You!
Group leaders are required to attend the Growth Group leader kickoff on January 17, from 6:30PM to 9PM. A great dinner is provided, as well as child-care upon request.
